A Renovated Crown Heights Row House and Three More To See, Starting at .9 Million

Our picks for open houses to check out this weekend are found in Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill and Crown Heights. They range in price from $1.9 million to $4.95 million.

In Carroll Gardens, a two-family brownstone sits across from the neighborhood’s eponymous park. On the market for the first time since the 1970s, the just over 20-foot-wide house has plenty of detail on the parlor level, including marble mantels, plasterwork and wood floors, all looking as neat as a pin. That level is part of the owner’s triplex, which has two floors of bedroom space above. A rental unit, not shown in the photos, is on the garden level. None of the wet rooms are shown in the listing photos, so presumably they might need some updating.

In the Cobble Hill Historic District, this circa 1840s brick Greek Revival-style row house has only a handful of listing photos to provide some details. Records disagree on the number of units in the multi-family, and the floor plan shows four kitchens but only three bathrooms. It could work as a garden and parlor level duplex with two apartments above, though a new owner might want to tweak the layout. There are only two photos of the interior, and one shows the garden level kitchen with a tin ceiling, vintage porcelain sink and built-in corner cupboard. A bedroom has early 20th century wall moldings with a bit of Deco-style ornament and more tin ceilings. The rear yard looks in need of some TLC.

In the Crown Heights North Historic District is a circa 1880s Romanesque Revival-style two-family with some original features intact. The latter include wood floors with inlaid borders, mantels, picture rails and pocket doors. The layout currently has a kitchen on the garden floor and one on the third but a new owner might want to make some changes to create a garden rental unit with a triplex above. The kitchen shown could use some updating and the three full bathrooms aren’t pictured.

1316 Dean Street
Price: $2.3 million
Area: Crown Heights
Broker: Corcoran (Troy Gaskin)

In the Crown Heights North III Historic District, this 1890s Renaissance Revival-style row house has had a complete renovation. The two-family has a garden level apartment with a duplex above, and both units still have original details to go along with renovated kitchens and baths. On the parlor level is a pier mirror, stained glass, pocket doors and an entry with wainscoting and an original stair. A modern kitchen with dark blue cabinets, a marble-topped island and subway tile is set at the rear of the floor. Other updates include central air conditioning and a landscaped rear garden.
